The templates provided may not always appeal to the user sometimes you have to tweak it to make it work for you. Be very careful choosing your colors for your blog. It is my opinion that light colors are much easier on the eyes, such as backgrounds. I see to many blogs with images in the backgrounds this can be very distracting for your readers. Solid colors are preferred for people who visit your blog.
Choosing the correct color combination can be difficult that's why you have to choose your colors carefully. Remember your blog will be on display for the world to see so make sure you get it right.

3- Choosing the correct font style is very important it should be clear and easy to read.

6- It's not recommend to place ads under blog post, give your reader the opportunity to read your post with out cluddering it with ads.
7- Make sure the design you have chosen is right for you.
